You come home from another long day at work and you collapse onto the couch. In my particular case you reek of children, glue sticks, and sweat. Delicious, right?! You've done this so long it has become second nature. You are so used to being fatigued, angry, stressed and generally miserable you hardly notice it anymore. You love kids with your whole heart but something has got to give. As you stumble into your second job of being a homemaker, you are certain you have nothing left to give your family. But lets add one more horrible ingredient to this deflated souffle’… your own children now accompany you to school daily and the oldest has entered the dreaded 3rd grade!

Things aren’t going well. This exhausted teacher now turned into an exhausted momma. My smart, happy, well behaved girl has now became anxious, miserable, and was wilting like a flower desperate for a drink. Without boring you with the nasty details we decided after being lied to, belittled, and rejected we would take our girl out of brick and mortar school in February 2020 and allow her to finish through virtual school.

It‘s important to add I had been teaching 10 years at the school that my child was removed from. Ten extremely fulfilling but taxing years and my heart was broken into a thousand pieces. Not only was my girl being rejected, I was being told I didn't matter. That stung. A lot. Things were shifting and I began searching desperately for something more. It was then that Jesus began moving in drastic and unexpected ways.

After tears, anger, and a lot of prayer I started to see my lifelong dream come into fruition in the most difficult way possible. I had to be broken to leave the familiar. I had to see and feel the pain to take the leap. I feel when we really dig deep into our dreams we always envision this beautiful plan that unfolds in harmony with our wishes and we live blissfully ever after. Yeah...that didn't happen. Don't be fooled EVERYTHING that happened had to happen to make this dream... well, HAPPEN. After realizing that the school I was teaching at no longer was the school I wished to be a part of, Jesus said " it's time". I put my feelers out on social media. "Who would consider me teaching your children at my home for a weekly fee?" The response was OVERWHELMING! And then....COVID hit.

Imagine my surprise as this idea Jesus put on my heart years ago was literally becoming an instant success. I was absolutely overcome with the timing, the outpouring of love, and the needs that were met at every turn. I am Mrs. Janie Lynn Jewell and am the proud owner and founder of Jewell School Private Tutoring, LLC. I am a certified teacher who has created her own learning pod of grades K-6 within my home. Our play room turned into a classroom. Our house has 20 little feet running through out it M-F and it's the most beautiful sound I have ever heard. Here there is love, patience, perseverance, and so much fun! " How does that work?" It just does. Because...Jesus. Because of an amazing staff that has come along beside me to acheieve this vision. Because of supportive families who trust us to teach and love their children. We completed our first successful year ( 2020-2021) and I am looking forward to what our second year will bring! On this blog I'll share feelings, successes, failures, ideas, and so much more. If you have ever been afraid to step out of your comfort zone when Jesus comes calling, let me assure you the faith that is required is worth every scary moment. Take it from me friends, JOY comes in the morning!
